It has become almost a tradition that a couple of groups from
the Windsor and Maidenhead Symphony Orchestra each year play at the Maidenhead
Carnival, and 1999 was no exception. For 1999, the WMSO put together
a Wind ensemble, and a String Group too. These two groups then played
at various places and times throughout the afternoon of the Carnival.
Although the music at such events is very different to the full symphony
orchestra music that is played at our main concerts, it is worth coming
to have a listen, and is very much a relaxed, informal performance.
Such occasions are also completely free, and are complemented by lots of
other things going on too. Usually a fun day out. It is of
course slightly weather dependent - and in that respect things were not
so good for the second year running, with rain featuring significantly.
