We are dedicating our
March 2006
concert to the memory of Reinhard Paesler who died in December. Reinhard was a
founder member
of the orchestra. He played in just about every major concert until last Summer. He was born in Berlin in 1934, and came with his family to England in 1948. Reinhard became an industrial scientist and a keen amateur musician (like his father), playing the organ for Lutheran services as well as the violin. As well as enjoying his orchestral playing he had a passion for chamber music, founding the Linkswood String Quartet in the 1970s. His other main interest was gardening, looking after his half-acre plot and winning prizes with it. Reinhard served on the orchestra committee for many years publishing the programme and finding sponsorship. Reinhard was never known to criticise anybody. He was the perfect gentleman and is sadly missed by us all.
